Web Site Page Content
The content of your web site is critically important. Search Engines primarily use your page content to decide how close your web site and web pages are to people’s searches and therefore how high up the list of search results.
People often under estimate how much time it takes to ensure you content is right and will produce the results you want from your web site.
The keys to getting the right content are as follows:
- Research – we find out what your competitors are
doing and offering in their websites. We google the keywords we think people would use to find you and then look who comes up high in the page ranking and what their websites say and are like.
- Categorising the information – you will want to think about what types of web pages you want and how to divide the information up into easy to find sections. We can advise you on categorisation.
- Paragraph length and content format – try to keep the paragraphs shorter than you normally would in a word document.
Short 3-4 lined paragraphs are much more appealing and easy to read online, than long paragraphs.
- Think about putting information into lists (which will become bullet points or a numbered list) where possible, this adds the easy of finding information for the reader.
- What make your business stand out – what are your points of difference from your competitors? Make sure you include this in your content.
- What adds to your credibility or appeal – depending on your business some things will work well for you and others less well. For instance, if you are in a business which makes things then quality photos of your products would work well.
- Testimonials and customer comments work well for most business but are especially good for work that is a service. Reviews or including downloadable pdf menus work well for restaurants etc.
- Keywords – make a list of the keywords you think people would use to find your product or service. Be specific about things like city or suburb if you only work in one area.
- Keywords are also important for another reason, and you need to keep a list of these for your web site designer - click here to find out more.
